Safety is a key priority when buying a new car. Ensuring that everyone aboard is secure, no matter where you go, is a reassuring feeling, and you’ll find that all of the cars here at Auto Sportiva have a great record when it comes to outright safety.
But what are the go-to models if you’re looking for the very safest cars on the road? In this article, we’re going to be answering that question, and the good news is that they’re all available here at Auto Sportiva.
Range Rover
It’s not hard to see the Range Rover as a good option, safety-wise. It is, of course, a very large SUV, but it isn’t just this car’s outright shape that makes it a secure option. When crash-tested by industry leaders Euro NCAP, the Range Rover scored a full five stars, making it one of the very safest cars on the road.
It’s got more to do with what the Range Rover has underneath, too. It scored very highly for its assistance systems, achieving an 82 per cent rating - thanks to its variety of on-board safety features that help to make this car very secure indeed.
Porsche Taycan
The Taycan represents a masterclass in how to make an electric vehicle feel like a ‘proper’ sports car. Available in a variety of power outputs, it’s a popular choice here at Auto Sportiva, and we’re particularly fond of the more practical Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo version which adds a greater level of space.
But you’ll find that the Taycan is a very safe model, too. When tested by Euro NCAP in 2019, the Taycan was awarded a full five-star rating, with high praise being levelled at its child and adult occupant protection. It also gets key safety features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking - AEB - and an Active Bonnet which can help cushion the impact for a pedestrian or cyclist in the event of a collision.
Audi RS3
The Audi A3 is a popular hatchback and the high-performance RS3 version takes things up a notch. With a punchy 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine is a characterful hot-hatch with quattro all-wheel-drive providing next-level grip and accuracy, no matter what the conditions.
But as well as all of that performance, the Audi RS3 also delivers a great level of safety. When the A3 - which provides the basis for the RS3 - was tested in 2020, it scored a full five stars and returned an impressive 89 per cent rating for adult occupant safety, alongside an 81 per cent rating for child occupant safety.
Jaguar F-Pace
Jaguar showed a whole new side when it launched the F-Pace. In keeping with the rest of the brand’s range, it showcased a dynamic edge to the typical SUV experience, with high-powered SVR versions bringing a hugely characterful supercharged V8 engine. Safety, as you might expect, was also a top priority, which is reflected in the F-Pace’s five-star Euro NCAP rating when it was tested in 2018.
With a suite of airbags, it keeps its occupants as safe as can be, while features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Keeping Assist help to boost safety even further.
Audi Q7
The Q7 is Audi’s largest SUV and, as a result, is a great choice for drivers looking for lots of space. With seven-seat versatility, it’s ideal for bigger families or those who often travel in larger groups but you still have the high level of finish and build quality that you’d expect from Audi. Even more so for such a family-oriented car, the Audi Q7 is also very impressive when it comes to safety.
Tested in 2019, the Q7 scored a full five stars and did well in terms of overall adult occupant safety, where it scored 92 per cent. It’s even got a cyclist-specific Autonomous Emergency Braking system which can detect those travelling on two wheels.
Porsche Macan
The Porsche Macan has become one of the brand’s most popular vehicles, with only the larger Cayenne outselling it. Spacious and finished with lots of high-end materials, the Macan is a great fit for all types of drivers thanks to its practicality.
But when tested in 2014, the Porsche Macan showed that it could deliver in terms of safety as well as performance. Alongside its five-star rating, the Macan scored 88 per cent for both adult occupant protection, as well as 60 per cent for its protection of pedestrians.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio
Few car manufacturers can bring quite as much character to their cars as Alfa Romeo. A great example of this is with the Stelvio; it’s a high-riding SUV which still manages to be as engaging and exciting as a saloon. You can get it with a variety of engines, too, with Veloce versions like this bringing a punchy turbocharged 2.0-litre engine.
When tested in 2017, the Stelvio also did brilliantly well in terms of safety, with a full five-star rating being backed by an impressive 97 per cent rating for adult occupant protection.
